5:32 Friday

I'm sitting in the office next to Warren. Just finished a long awaited interview with Baaba Maal. Maal is an international music star who has worked with luminaries across the world. One of his songs, for instance, is a FIFA World Cup theme song, he will perform this song in July at the closing ceromonies in South Africa.

We spoke quite a bit about community and what it means for families to gather together at festivals, that this is how the information, the learning, the sharing, the true meaning of being human can be shared.
He said a lot of things, and I've recorded it, but my pc link technology seems to be retrograded.

People are streaming in the gates now, and music is set to start at 6pm. Online ticket sales continue, but there's a service charge so best to come on out and purchase tickets onsight.

I was told hours ago that Gregory Isaacs was officially "on the plane" so his appearance is so far confirmed.

So is Queen Omega. That was questionable earlier this week as she was initially denied her all important travel visa.

Music can move mountains, even in the world of U.S. Visas.

I'm honored to be blogging, but have been thus far plagued with various technological difficulties so I have yet to be able to use my computer to upload pictures and audio files. Soon come, I hope, but until then I'm at least able to share my words.

  1. Regarding FIFA and the World Cup-there should be a TV set up somewhere where people can get together and watch the games before or after the music...reggae and soccer have always had an affinity and I know tons of participants from years on have been interested in the games and sporting their Adidas jerseys, et al. Many places around the world have outdoor areas set up for people to watch the games together...I think it would be great!
